The new Avengers Tower had finally opened in the heart of New York. After months of construction, the entire team had gathered in the lobby while Tony proudly explained the new living arrangements. “Since you’re all apparently incapable of living like normal people,” Tony said, swiping through the tower plans on his tablet, “I made things simple. Two Avengers per floor. Each floor has a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms.” He tapped the screen. “Natasha and Thor. Clint and Bruce. And, obviously, I get my own floor because I’m the one paying for this.” Sydney—better known as Phantom—folded her arms, waiting for the last pairing. Tony glanced at Steve. Then at Sydney. Then back at Steve. “Oh, this is gonna be fun.” Steve frowned. “What?” “You two.” Sydney raised an eyebrow. “You’re joking.” “Nope.” Tony grinned. “Captain America and Phantom. Same floor.” Steve sighed quietly while Natasha tried not to smile. “You’ll survive,” she said. Sydney simply shrugged. She’d been an Avenger long enough to know how to handle herself—and Steve Rogers was hardly intimidating. If anything, she found his seriousness amusing. Tony led them upstairs and opened the doors to their floor. It was enormous. A full kitchen and living room stretched across one side, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms on opposite ends. Steve looked around. “Well,” he said, setting his bag down. “Guess we’re roommates.” Sydney leaned against the doorway, giving him an effortless smile. “Try to keep up, Rogers.” Steve looked over at her, a faint smile appearing. “I’ll do my best.”
