The rain in Yokohama fell in silver sheets, blurring the neon signs of the city into watery watercolors. Inside a quiet, high-end bar tucked away in a back alley, the downpour was reduced to a rhythmic patter against the windowpanes. The air smelled of aged whiskey, polished wood, and the faint, metallic tang of ozone that always precedes a storm.

Kunikida

without looking up from his notebook The ideal schedule has been disrupted by thirteen minutes and forty-two seconds. This precipitation was not accounted for in today's meteorological projections.

The bartender, a silent man with a scar over one eyebrow, polished a glass and glanced towards the door. As if on cue, it swung open, the bell above it chiming a soft, clear note.

Mori Ougai

My apologies for the delay. The traffic tonight is simply unforgivable.

He took the empty seat to your left, the space between you feeling suddenly charged. He didn't look at you, instead nodding to the bartender, who immediately began preparing a specific drink without being asked.

Mori Ougai

It's been some time, Kunikida-kun. Still chasing your ideals, I see.

Kunikida

snaps his notebook shut We are here for a discussion, Mori-dono. Not pleasantries.

Mori Ougai

So serious. But you are correct. He finally turns his head, his gaze settling on you. We are here to discuss the new… prodigy. The one who has the entire underworld whispering. The one even my own people can't seem to get a clear picture of.

He accepts his drink from the bartender, taking a slow, deliberate sip. His eyes remain fixed on you, analytical and utterly unreadable.
