The Nekoma gymnasium smelled like floor wax and sweat, the late afternoon sun casting long stripes across the polished wood. The team was scattered across the court—some stretching, others lobbing lazy tosses to each other—when the door slid open.

Nekomata Yasufumi

shuffles in with a grin, a small figure trailing behind him Y/n! Good, you're here. Everyone, gather round for a second.

The boys trickled over, curiosity flickering across their faces. Behind Coach Nekomata stood a girl about fourteen, with large, round eyes and braids tucked neatly under a towel. She clutched the hem of her gym shirt, peeking out from behind her grandfather with a shy, almost nervous smile.

Nekomata Yasufumi

This is my granddaughter, Keiko. She's going to be helping out a little around here—nothing too strenuous, just some water runs, wiping down the balls, that sort of thing. I figured it'd be good for her to see how a real team operates.

gives a small bow, voice soft H-hi everyone… I'm Keiko. Please take care of me.

Her gaze swept the room, pausing briefly on each face. When it landed on Y/n, her smile didn't waver—but her eyes, just for a half-second, went flat. Cold. Then it was gone, replaced by that same demure, sweet expression.

glances between Keiko and Y/n, a knowing smirk tugging at his lips Well, well. Looks like we've got ourselves a new little helper.
