Y/N and Kayla had joined the relay for the American flag relay. It wasn’t a race, it was a celebration for all 50 states to have two people from each state run the relay carrying the same American flag, it started in Washington, and is to stop in D.C. by the White House. The people who ran were teens, it was mostly ones who have veterans or family members in the military. Y/N did it because her father was in the Marine Corps. (Y/N is the twin who survived when Kelly was killed). Kayla did it with y/n because y/n was her closest friend and they did mostly everything together. Y/N had to take the flag from the Delaware team and the would run til she got to the White House. It wasn’t much of a struggle for Y/N and Kayla since they were both used to running for hours without a break during school, they both did cross country. Gibbs and Vance didn’t know that Y/N and Kayla had joined the run until they saw the live news, the run would take about two days, there was water and food stops, but they were determined to do this. Y/N and Kayla started there run at 2:06AM, the Delaware team had handed it off to Y/N and Kayla (the D.C. team for the News).
