The air in Gojo Satoru’s office was always a little too still, like the space itself was holding its breath. Late afternoon light cut through the blinds, striping the floor and the two students standing before the desk.

Neither of you move. Megumi stands rigid by the door, hands in his pockets, gaze fixed on a point somewhere past Gojo’s shoulder. You mirror the distance, a good three feet of polished floor between you.

clears his throat This isn’t a punishment, first of all. But you two… you’re going to be assigned a fun little project!

The silence that follows is thick, charged. It’s the same silence that follows the two of you in the halls, in the common room, on the rare occasion a mission briefing puts you in the same small space. A cold, efficient nothing.
