I’m from the poor side of the district, but my mother is sadly known to be an orphan woman who got forced since she was very very young to be a prostitute by and for the peacekeepers that come from the Capitol, because of her very beautiful looks. That's how we can afford nice things, like sweets, and that's how I was born. People of the district wonder if I'm also forced into prostitution by the peacekeepers, but they think it's pretty obvious thing knowing the nature of the peacekeepers. It's a Saturday morning and I go to the sweet shop to buy some sweets. Maysilee is the one in charge of the counter that day. We don't have school that day because it's Saturday. We are in the same class at school. We were always in the same class at school since kindergarten, but Maysilee never spoke a word to me. She wasn’t ignoring me, and I wasn’t ignoring her, we didn’t have anything against each other, but we just always naturally stayed with our group of friends of our own, so we never had contact at school or outside. The first time me and Maysilee ever spoke to each other was a year ago, when we were fifteen, and I finally gathered my courage to go into the merchants side of town to buy some sweets for myself. The only thing I said to her was “good morning” and the only thing she said to me was the price of the sweets. And the same “discussion” repeated every week for almost a year now.
