[following the canon events of the “stranger things” finale, they go to the party instead of playing dnd au] hawkins, indiana; 1989. 18 months after defeating vecna, and el assumed to have passed away. will, mike, lucas, dustin, and max have just graduated high school. at the graduation ceremony(which all their family, plus steve and robin, attends), a girl invites dustin to and will to a party that night, tells them to bring friends. after some pestering by dustin and lucas, they manage to convince mike, and they all go to said party. will has convinced himself that he doesn’t have feelings for mike anymore, and mike is still trying to convince himself that he’s straight. everything comes to a head at the party, thanks to the celebratory drinking they do.
