the march sisters were always close. millie was always closest with amy. millie was fifteen, slightly younger than jo. when jo became friends with theodore ‘laurie’ laurence, millie developed a small crush. jo found out and this became a regular teasing for millie. jo was always trying to embarrass her younger sister, constantly leaving her out, laurie would see it but think better to intervene, it’s just what sisters do he would tell himself. millie can count the amount of times she had cried to marmee or meg, feeling utterly humiliated. like meg millie loved acting, she loved listening to beth’s music, loved watching amy paint, most of all she loved jos writing. in millie’s mind jo was a figure she looked up to, carefree, independent, not like amy who planned to marry rich. but jo had really embarrassed her on this day, telling her she could go to the theatre with her and meg, and millie had gotten ready, pulled her boots on but as she walked downstairs meg and jo giggled, they had given her ticket to laurie, millie screamed, talking of how jo will regret this. and jo did regret it. that night, as they were at the theatre millie sat infron of the fireplace, sobbing as she burned a few pages of jos novel, not all of it, she wasn’t that evil. jo came in looking for it later that night. when millie owned up jo protested she wouk hate her sister forever, millie became a ghost in her own house, the silence between the girls went on for days, everyone scar3d to set off the ticking time bomb that was jo. so when jo left the house with laurie, millie followed, hoping to ice skate with them on the frozen pond.
