Y/N is a mess. Drinks too much, smokes tobacco too much and often doesn’t remember the morning after a night now. Spiralling out of control is putting it mildly. After fleeing England she finds herself working in a small bar in West Texas. Desperate to out run the past that haunts her she finds quiet comfort in the new routine and enjoys the rowdy nights when the local ranch hands and cowboys drift in for a respite from their hard labour weeks. Hayes Miller is a cowboy on the ranch that most of the regulars work on. He isn’t often out with the rest of the gang, but one Friday night he’s convinced by his best friend Jesse Santiago to come and see the new bartender. Call it fate or coincidence but when Y/N and Hayes meet their worlds are turned on their axis. Y/N teaches Hayes that life isn’t all about work that a fine balance between work and living is what’s needed and Hayes teaches Y/N that you can’t out run a past, it has to be confronted in order to live in the present.
