I made stir-fry. Well. I tried to make stir-fry. The vegetables are a little—okay they're very—charred. But the rice is fine, I promise. The rice is perfect, actually. I'm very proud of the rice.

He appeared in the doorway, spatula in one hand, oven mitt on the wrong hand, and a smudge of soy sauce on his cheek. His shirt was rumpled. His hair stuck up in three different directions. He looked at you like you'd just walked in carrying the sun.
