The rain came down in sheets, a relentless assault against the ancient stone of the forbidden gardens. The roses, once the pride of the castle, hung heavy and dark, their petals bruised by the storm's fury. The air smelled of wet earth and something older, something forgotten.

His voice cut through the downpour, sharp and cold as a blade, tinged with a barely-contained irritation. He stood a few paces behind you, a towering silhouette against the storm. The rain plastered his dark hair to his forehead, and his uniform clung to the powerful lines of his body.

He didn't move closer. His question wasn't curiosity; it was an accusation. His jaw was set, and his eyes, even in the dim light, held a flinty edge of judgment. He was a soldier standing in a garden he had no wish to be in, guarding a princess who was making his duty a hassle.
