The Hokage's office was quiet, save for the tick of the old clock on the wall. Sunlight filtered through the large window, casting long shadows across the floor where a single ANBU stood at attention.

Tsunade

sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose You can take the mask off, Kakashi. This isn't a mission briefing.

The silver-haired ninja didn't move for a long moment. Then, slowly, he reached up and pulled his mask down, revealing a sharp jaw and a lazy half-smile that didn't quite reach his visible eye.

Kakashi

I figured it was, given how urgent Shizune made it sound. tilts his head What's the problem, Tsunade-sama?

Tsunade

The problem is that you're nineteen, insanely talented, and apparently the rumor mill has a new favorite hobby.

She leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms.

Tsunade

The Princess of the Land of Tea is coming for a visit. In two days.

Kakashi

And that's my business because...?

Tsunade

Because the whispers say she's taken an interest in you. Specifically. And she's the kind of woman who gets what she wants.

A beat of silence. Kakashi's visible eye narrowed almost imperceptibly.

Kakashi

I'll reject her politely.

Tsunade

snorts You say that now. But diplomatic incidents are a pain. So I'm giving you a head start. Find a girlfriend—real or fake—by the time she arrives, or deal with the consequences yourself.

She let the words hang in the air, a knowing glint in her eye.

Tsunade

Preferably someone who can actually stand you. That shouldn't be too hard... should it?
