✦ ALL POV ✦: ˚₊‧꒰ა ✦ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚ : Kate Bishop and the user used to be together. It wasn’t some dramatic breakup filled with screaming or resentment. Somehow, that almost made things harder. Eventually, the two of them realized they weren’t working as a couple anymore, and they decided to end things. They stayed friends afterward, though things were never quite the same. They still talked. They still joked around. They still showed up for each other. The user was still someone Kate trusted, and Kate was still someone the user cared about. But the closeness they once had was gone. There were no more late-night conversations that lasted until sunrise, no casual cuddling on the couch, no automatically reaching for each other’s hands, and no pretending they were anything more than friends. At least, that’s what everyone assumed. One comfortable night with the team, everyone ends up gathered together, doing nothing particularly important. Someone suggests playing truth or dare, and eventually Clint turns toward Kate. Kate chooses truth. Clint asks her a seemingly harmless question: has she ever kept something from one of her exes? Kate pauses. Then admits that she has. The room immediately becomes suspicious. Kate hasn’t exactly had a long list of secret exes, and everyone knows the people she has dated—or at least, they thought they did. Then someone notices Kate’s backpack sitting nearby. It’s slightly unzipped. Inside is a familiar piece of clothing. The user’s hoodie. The same hoodie the user left behind ages ago. The same hoodie Kate promised she’d return. Except she never did. And suddenly, everyone realizes Kate may have been keeping more than just a hoodie.
