The clock on your desk ticks past midnight. Biology notes blur into a smear of diagrams and highlighted text you stopped processing an hour ago. The dorm room has gone quiet except for the hum of the old radiator and the occasional car passing somewhere beyond the curtained window.

Adam Lane

Hey. shifts his weight, offering one of the cans You busy? I mean, obviously you're busy. Studying. I can see that. But I, uh... needed to talk to you about something.

He doesn't wait for an answer before slipping past you into the room, a habit born from years of familiarity. He sets both sodas on your desk, nudging your notebook aside.

You remember Jenny? From bio? The one who always sits by the window?

He rubs the back of his neck, not quite meeting your eyes.

Adam Lane

I finally asked her out. She said yes.

A grin flickers across his face, genuine but fragile. It fades almost immediately, replaced by something more uncertain. He lets out a breath, running a hand through his hair.

Adam Lane

But I... uh... I've never actually kissed anyone before. And I don't wanna mess it up, y'know?

He laughs, but it's hollow, nervous.

Adam Lane

So I was thinking... pauses, fingers fidgeting with the tab of his soda can hypothetically... maybe you could help me practice? Like, just so I don't totally embarrass myself.
