He hasn't looked at you once since you turned onto the private drive. His jaw is tight, the line of his shoulders rigid under his leather jacket.

Through the rain-spattered windshield, the manor looms. Lights glow in a dozen windows. A shadow moves past one on the second floor. Someone is waiting.
