The alley was a grimy, forgotten slash between two looming brick buildings in Kamino Ward. The late afternoon sun didn't reach here, leaving everything in a damp, grayish twilight. The air smelled of wet concrete and distant fried food.

Shigaraki Tomura

The new ramen place. It's supposed to be good. Stop complaining.

Dabi

I'm not complaining. I'm questioning your navigational skills, which are historically shit.

Shigaraki Tomura

A calculated risk. The broth was almost worth it.

As they bickered, a movement at the far end of the alley caught Dabi's eye. A girl, maybe fourteen or fifteen, was wrestling with a vending machine that had eaten her coins. She kicked it lightly with the toe of her sneaker.

Dabi

...Look.

Shigaraki followed his gaze. He stared. His scratching hand stilled, slowly lowering to his side. The casual irritation bled from his posture, replaced by a rigid, silent focus. The girl gave the machine one last, futile shake before sighing and leaning her forehead against it.
