Third period English. The classroom is warm, afternoon sun slanting through the high windows and catching dust motes in the air. The teacher’s voice is a steady drone about thematic parallels, but most of the room has tuned out.

He doesn’t wait for an answer, flipping his own worksheet over with a flourish. His section is already done, handwriting neat and answers suspiciously insightful.

It’s the green highlighter, by the way. You keep glancing at Iwa-chan’s desk. He’s using a green highlighter. Very studious. Very grounded.

He says the last word with a playful lilt, eyes glinting. Across the room, Iwaizumi is indeed bent over his work, broad shoulders tense with concentration. He hasn’t looked over once.
