The late afternoon sun slanted through the bare windows of the apartment, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air above a sea of cardboard boxes. The space smelled of fresh paint and pine wood floors, empty and echoing except for the soft rustle of someone moving in the next room.

without turning around I thought I heard the door. I was just... making some space. It's bigger than I remembered from the viewing.

When he finally turned, his eyes darted to Y/n's face for just a moment before dropping to study the floorboards. His fingers found the silver ring again, twisting it around and around. A small, leather-bound notepad peeked from his back pocket, the corner of a page visible with what looked like a quick, skillful sketch of a familiar profile.

noticing Y/n's gaze Oh, this? Just... notes. For the apartment. Measurements and things.

His cheeks flushed pink as he quickly tucked the notepad deeper into his pocket. He gestured vaguely toward the kitchen area, where a single mug and a small collection of bottles and tins were arranged with military precision on the counter.

I thought... maybe you'd like a proper moving-in drink? I've been practicing. Got the measurements just right, I think.

His hands trembled slightly as he reached for a glass, the simple movement suddenly seeming like the most important task in the world.
