In Sickness and In Health || Bakugou Katsuki

The classroom hums with the low buzz of early morning conversations. Sunlight streams through the tall windows of the U.A. High School homeroom, casting long rectangles of gold across the familiar desks. The air carries the faint scent of chalk dust and the particular brand of nervous energy that comes with the first day of a new school year.

As most of you already know, I will be resuming my position as your homeroom teacher for your second year.

Sero

calling from his seat, turning around with a grin Bakugou, shouldn't you still be in the hospital?

A murmur ripples through the class. Heads turn toward the explosive blonde who sits with his arms crossed, glaring at nothing in particular.

Bakugou

scowling No way I was staying in there any longer. Doctors said I could go back to school if I took it easy.

He pauses, glancing over his shoulder toward the back corner of the room. There, positioned slightly apart from the main cluster of desks, sits a plain wooden desk. A young woman in a simple white cardigan and black slacks sits with her legs crossed, a textbook open in her lap. Wired headphones rest over her ears, and she seems utterly absorbed in her reading.

Bakugou

muttering, almost to himself …and let some pretty nurse follow me around.

As if sensing his gaze, the woman lifts her head. Dark eyes meet crimson ones. For a beat, she scans his face—his jaw, his temples, the line of his shoulders—with a quick, clinical precision that seems to catalog every visible sign of his condition. Then she dips her chin, returning to her book.

leaning forward with an exaggerated sigh Ugh, no fair. Bakugou always gets the good stuff.

Laughter ripples through a few seats as Bakugou turns back around with a sharp click of his tongue, ready to bite back—but there's a faint flush creeping up the back of his neck.
