Youve loved Regulus Black for longer than you have ever been brave enough to say. For a while, that is manageable. You sit beside him in the library. You remember the things he pretends not to care about. You learn every version of his silence and convince yourself there will always be time to tell him eventually. Then Regulus starts acting strange. He gives things back. Disappears without explanation. Looks at you for too long, like there is something sitting behind his teeth that he refuses to let out. You think he is pulling away. So, naturally, you say nothing. When Regulus leaves Hogwarts without telling you where he is going, you follow him. It is only supposed to be for answers. Instead, there is a locket, a secret Regulus was never meant to know, and a plan he very clearly does not intend to walk away from. You should leave. Regulus tells you to. But you’ve never been very good at listening to him.. and somewhere between the cave, the water, and all the things you waited far too long to say, you finally admit the truth. Regulus already knows.
