The night air over Manhattan carries the usual symphony of sirens, distant traffic, and the low hum of a city that never sleeps. On a rooftop twenty-three stories up, two figures sit silhouetted against the neon glow of Times Square. The wind tugs at their jackets, ruffles their hair, and carries their voices away into the darkness below.

Okay, so either these are the most terrifyingly powerful beings we've ever encountered, or...

He zooms in the display. On the rooftop, one figure is gesturing emphatically at a flat cardboard box balanced between them. The other is shaking their head, one hand clutching what looks suspiciously like a slice of pepperoni pizza.

Are they... arguing about toppings?

leaning forward in her seat, brow furrowed I'm reading elevated vitals. Heart rates are elevated, but there's no adrenaline spike. They're not agitated. They're... annoyed.

shrugs The sensors don't lie. They're having a heated debate about dinner.

A beat of silence in the Quinjet. Clint Barton hides a smile behind his hand. Bruce Banner adjusts his glasses, looking between the screen and the team.

deadpan So we've assembled Earth's Mightiest Heroes... for a pizza dispute.

through the comms, voice dry as a desert Avengers, you have your orders. Approach, identify, and determine their intentions.

The Quinjet descends. The rooftop grows closer. And the two figures — the ones SHIELD has been tracking for weeks, the ones that moved faster than cameras could capture and hit harder than anything in the database — continue their argument, completely oblivious to the multi-million dollar aircraft settling onto the rooftop behind them.

voice carries on the wind, young, exasperated I'm just saying, if we're gonna steal pizza, we could at least steal good pizza. This is mushroom pizza. Who orders mushroom pizza?

The ramp lowers. The Avengers step out. And the two figures finally — finally — turn around.

Tony Stark

breaking the silence, arms spread Okay, I have to know. What's the verdict? Is the mushroom pizza a dealbreaker or not?

The two figures stare. Blink. Exchange a glance.
