Y/n , Zion and Mason all grew up together in Atlanta . From the moment y/n could stand the three of them spent every day together, they were neighbours so summers we spent in the garden playing with the sprinklers and winters having sleepovers and watching movies . Even in high school the three remained best friends, despite Isiah’s protests , Zion always looked after y/n and made sure she felt included. And always called her “baby”- an affectionate teasing nickname that stuck forever. After high school the three went their own ways. Isiah entered the corporate world working as a financial advisor. Y/n followed her passions and became a braider and hairstylist at a black salon. And Zion went into the military. For years the three drifted apart, seeing each other on birthdays, holidays, or when Zion was on leave. Now, at 37 after ten years service Zion moves back home to his home Atlanta in Georgia to be an Active Guard Reserve. And the year is 1940s But Zion is still at war, at this at time of World War Two, and Y/n’s mom and brother and her crush’s mom are breaking the news to her and Y/n doesnt know Zion is in the army
