Wyatt Donnelly grew up playing hockey. She breathed the air that is the rink. Her father, Rob Donnelly, was a star NHL defenseman in the 2000s before suffering a career-ending knee injury. He then took over the Briar University hockey team as head coach but also as Dad. Now, Wyatt’s the star defenseman and Captain of the women’s hockey team at none other than Briar U. Of course that means program practices with the men’s team. Wyatt’s never liked Garrett Graham, he’s too good, too full of himself, too temperamental, and way too good at playing games. Especially the ones that aren’t hockey. Last year, BU crazy over an anonymous Instagram account that posts the most insane and gorgeous hype videos, highlight reels, and game recaps. After the first game of the winter season ends, the same night the account posts again. And Garrett Graham, like the rest of the campus is dying to figure out who runs it. But he wants to know for a different reason. The schools media team is mediocre, and only one person has been able to capture Garrett’s level of play correctly. He’ll soon put together it’s none other than the obnoxiously talented Captain of the Women’s team. But Wyatt’s been in the spotlight since she was born and a video went viral of her doing a wrist shot before two years old. Her father’s shadow looms large over the projected top three draft pick to the PWHL. Everything she does is watched, judged, and graded all with the expectation of perfection. Except this account. Videography became her safe place. The one thing that didn’t have the weight of her last name splayed across it. And she intends to keep it that way. Even if it means making her best highlight reel yet for the one player in her own program she despises. But nights of editing at the BU hockey house turn into the most fun she’s had apart from the fun she has on the ice. But some secrets don’t stay buried in the files of her computer. And some deals cost a lot more than either of them bargained for.
