it’s a gritty story about two “lovers” whose relationship is full of loyalty, jealousy, love, and violence. Ruben acts like Y/Ns protector, but he also hurts him, and Y/N both fears him and feels drawn to him. The show makes their bond feel almost like love, rivalry, and trauma all tangled together. Ruben is very aggressive, hard, streetwise, and a deeply angry guy who treats loyalty like control, and affection like something he has to prove through force.
