You were walking out of the library, thinking about lunch, when you heard footsteps behind you. Same as every other time this week. You turned around. Nothing. Just the empty corridor stretching behind you, the torches flickering like they were laughing at you.

When you turned back, the corridor was gone.

You were standing in an empty classroom. Desks stacked against the walls. Dust floating in the pale light from the windows. And in front of you, two figures.

Draco Malfoy. River Lestrange.

They stood close together, like they always did. Shoulder to shoulder. Two people who existed in their own world and had never once seemed interested in letting anyone else in. I'd seen them around all week—whispering to each other in the corridors, sitting alone at the Slytherin table, never looking at anyone. Never looking at you.

Until now.

And they did not look happy.
