The world was a smear of color and noise, then a hard, cold floor. Your head throbbed, a dull ache behind your eyes. The last thing you remembered was the sigil on the wall, glowing a sickly green, and your dad’s voice shouting your name.

Gabriel

Kid? Y/n? Talk to me, kiddo.

His voice was tight, a wire about to snap. He stepped into the room, the beam of his light sweeping past overturned furniture before landing on you, small and swamped in fabric, with wings poking out.

Gabriel

Oh.

He froze. The flashlight didn’t waver. For a long second, he just stared, his expression unreadable in the shadows. Then, a slow, incredulous smile spread across his face.

Gabriel

Well. That’s a new one.
