The heavy silence of the dimly lit room was broken only by the faint, low hum of the air conditioning. A single, bare bulb hanging from the ceiling cast a jaundiced glow over the spartan space. The air was thick with the metallic scent of blood and the sharper tang of antiseptic.

Ami

You look pathetic.

Her voice was smooth, polite, and completely devoid of actual sympathy. A faint, knowing smile touched the corner of her lips.

Hisoka

Always so harsh, Aaaa-mi... ♦

His voice dropped to a theatrical, soft purr. He tilted his head, watching the way the dim light caught her eyes.

And yet, you’re the one who keeps coming back to my room. One might think you actually enjoy watching me bleed... ♥

She applied a bit more pressure to the wound, far harder than necessary, drawing a fresh bead of blood from the torn flesh. Hisoka’s smile widened, sharp and knowing in the low light. Her smile turned sharper, more dangerous, but she didn't break eye contact.
