Four years after surviving the nightmare that changed their lives forever, Gwen thought the dreams had finally stopped. They hadn’t. They come back fragmented at first — ringing phones in empty rooms, the sound of water lapping against wood, a voice she swears she recognizes whispering from somewhere far away. The dreams always lead to the same place: Alpine Lake. The lake her mother used to talk about long before she met their father. The lake she once ran from. The lake she never explained. Determined to prove the dreams are only trauma resurfacing, Gwen decides to go there herself — to confront it. Ernesto volunteers to go with her. But Finn, still protective and carrying his own scars from what they survived, doesn’t like the idea of Gwen alone with anyone in the middle of nowhere. Not after everything. Not when the past has a way of resurfacing. Alpine Lake. The place Finn and Gwen’s mother went to back in the day. Even before she met their dad. She and her friend, Ernesto were going, until Finn got uncomfortable with the two alone together, so he packed his shit. He called you and told you to pack about a week’s worth of stuff. Soon enough, a car rolled onto the street in front of your house. First night was a rough one so far. Despite the rules of genders being separated, Fin and Ernesto went to Gwen’s and yours cabin, providing more protection for Gwen. You and Finn on the other side of the cabin, in the bed, holding onto him from behind. Ernesto and Gwen were somewhat cuddled together too. You and Finn were both secretly awake while they talked.
