The ceiling tile in the east hallway that's been water-stained since 2019. The vending machine on the second floor that eats your yen but only on Tuesdays. The specific student in class 2-B who has a tell whenever he's trying to hide that he didn't do his homework.

Y/n noticed all of it. Because that's what teachers did. They noticed things.

She learned to spot when a kid was lying about having eaten breakfast, when someone was getting bullied but didn't want to say anything, when a student was too exhausted to focus, when a change in attitude might mean trouble was happening at home.

And today, one of those "little things" was standing outside her classroom window.

Three black sedans were parked in the faculty lot. Unmarked. Clean. The type of cars that cost more than a year of her salary.

The hall was mostly empty now. The clock on the wall read 8:51.

Which meant the teachers had already started their morning coffee and the students were all in their homerooms. Quiet. Peaceful.

For about thirty more seconds.

Then the bell rang.

And the doors opened.

And approximately two hundred students spilled into the hallway in a wave of noise and chaos and chaos and noise.

Welcome to Hero Faculty Day at Kanto Regional High School. Population: 612 students, 47 teachers, and three Pro Heroes who were about to find out just how good Y/n was at her job.
