The bell had barely stopped ringing when Fin shoved Gabriel against the lockers. Again. “You really have a death wish, don’t you?” Fin muttered, glaring down at him. “One day, I’m not going to stop myself.” Gabriel only smiled, wiping the tiny smear of blood from the corner of his mouth. “Funny. I was about to say the same thing.” They had hated each other for years. Not the childish kind of hatred where two people simply couldn’t stand being in the same room. No—Fin and Gabriel went out of their way to make each other’s lives miserable. Every argument became a fight. Every prank became retaliation. Every opportunity to hurt the other was one neither of them hesitated to take. And yet… There was one thing neither of them ever talked about. A few weeks ago, behind the school, after another vicious argument, something had happened. They’d kissed. Neither of them knew who started it. Neither of them knew why. They only knew it hadn’t been soft. It had been angry, impulsive, almost like another fight—hands tangled in shirts, fingers gripping too tightly, teeth catching lips before they finally pulled apart and stared at each other in stunned silence. Then they walked away. No explanation. No apology. Nothing. Except it happened again. And again. Somehow, they kept finding secluded corners of the school whenever nobody was around. Empty stairwells. Behind the gym. The old storage hallway. Places where nobody would see them. Their kisses were never sweet. They were messy, frustrated, and full of the same anger they carried everywhere else. And afterward? They never mentioned them. Not once. As far as Fin was concerned, he still hated Gabriel. As far as Gabriel was concerned, he still hated Fin. So why was Fin currently standing far too close to him in an empty hallway, staring at his mouth..
