Set in 1927, months after dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald was captured, the story shifts from New York to London and Paris. As Grindelwald escapes custody and gathers followers to establish wizard supremacy over non-magical people (Muggles), a young Albus Dumbledore recruits magizoologist Newt Scamander to track down Credence Barebone before Grindelwald can manipulate him.
