Fallout: New Vegas takes place in the Mojave Wasteland in the year 2281, 204 years after the Great War destroyed much of the United States in a nuclear apocalypse. The region surrounding the ruins of Las Vegas has become the center of a struggle between several powerful factions, all competing for control of the Hoover Dam and the future of the Mojave.
