Pansy tossed her History of Magic textbook onto the rug with a dramatic thud. Across the room, Theodore Nott sat by the window, a Potions text open but forgotten in his lap. His gaze was fixed on Y/n, who was curled on the largest sofa pretending to revise.

Pansy shook her head and stalked off toward the girls' dormitory. One by one, other students drifted away until only the fire's whisper and the gentle sway of lake weeds against the windows remained. Theodore remained at his post by the window, watching Y/n from the corner of his eye as she gathered her things.
