The Box jerked to a stop, and before you could think, you were running. Voices shouted behind you, hands reached—but you shoved past all of them, panic clawing at your chest. You didn’t know where you were, who you were—only that you needed to get away. “Hey—stop!” Someone stepped in front of you. “It’s okay,” he said quickly. “You’re safe, just—” You punched him. Your fist slammed into his stomach, knocking the air out of him as he doubled over. Silence fell. You froze, breathing hard, staring as he slowly straightened. “…Alright,” he managed, wincing. “Noted.” A few nervous laughs broke out, but you barely heard them. “You’re new,” he said, studying you. Then, almost like an afterthought, “Also… you’re the only girl here.” Your stomach dropped. You took a step back, fists still clenched. “Stay away from me.” Your eyes locked on his last. He didn’t look scared—just… intrigued. “Got it,” he said. “I’ll try not to get punched again.” You turned away, heart still racing. But one thought stuck with you— Out of everyone there, he was the only one who didn’t seem afraid of you. And that made him the most dangerous.
