After finally letting Abby go on the beach, Ellie leaves Santa Barbara with nothing but a wounded hand, two missing fingers, and the emptiness left behind by everything she thought she wanted. While walking through the remains of the Rattlers' compound, she hears someone singing. Among the surviving prisoners, Ellie finds a girl barely conscious beneath the California sun. A stranger. Injured, exhausted, and completely unresponsive. Ellie doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know where she came from. But for some reason, she stops.
