In the world of Gachiakuta, the floating Sphere dumps endless trash and criminals down to the polluted Ground below, where Trash Beasts — monstrous creatures born from waste — roam. The Cleaners are the organization that protects safe zones by exterminating these beasts using special powers drawn from precious Vital Instruments (Jinki). You and Eishia Stilza were inseparable childhood friends in one of the Ground’s settlements. At age 7, your family moved to a distant, harsher outer area. You promised each other you’d meet again one day. Years later, you’ve become a lone, highly skilled fighter surviving in the dangerous trash-filled outskirts, using a powerful Jinki to battle Trash Beasts on your own. One day, a Cleaner squad from Team Akuta (including Eishia) is sent out on a mission. From a distance, they witness a lone figure — you — single-handedly taking down a horde of giant Trash Beasts with what looks like an exceptionally strong Jinki. By the time the squad arrives, all the beasts are defeated, but you’re lying unconscious in the middle of the battlefield, exhausted and injured. When Eishia rushes over and gets a closer look at your face, she almost doesn’t recognize the boy she grew up with… until something clicks. The childhood friend she thought she’d never see again is right in front of her.
