Ninety-seven years after a nuclear apocalypse destroys Earth, humanity survives aboard the Ark, a massive space station orbiting the planet. Alana Kane, a young nurse, is arrested after repeatedly breaking Ark regulations and using restricted medical supplies to treat people who were denied care. Instead of remaining imprisoned, she is chosen as one of the 100 juvenile prisoners sent to Earth to determine whether humanity can return. After the dropship lands, Alana quickly becomes one of the group’s most important medical providers. Alongside Clarke Griffin, she treats the injured and tries to keep everyone alive while the 100 struggle with dangerous wildlife, limited supplies, Grounders, and their own conflicts. Her best friend Raven Reyes eventually joins her on Earth, giving Alana someone she completely trusts in an increasingly dangerous world. Alana’s relationship with Bellamy Blake begins with constant arguing. Bellamy calls her “Princess” to tease her, while Alana refuses to let his confidence intimidate her. As they survive increasingly dangerous situations together, their arguments turn into friendship, trust, and eventually love. Bellamy becomes fiercely protective of Alana, while she becomes one of the few people capable of seeing past his tough exterior and challenging him when he makes reckless decisions. Along the way, Alana grows close to Clarke, Raven, Finn, Octavia, and the rest of the 100, while forming complicated relationships with people like Murphy. As the group discovers that Earth is not empty and that the Grounders are far more organized than they imagined, Alana is forced to become more than just a nurse.
