For years, the notorious pirate crew of ATEEZ have whispered about the strange little sea spirit that follows their ship. She never speaks. She simply appears. A flash of a shimmering tail beneath the waves. A curious pair of enormous eyes peeking over the railing at dawn. A pile of impossible gifts waiting on deck each morning—perfect pearls, ancient coins, polished sea glass, jeweled daggers recovered from forgotten wrecks, even messages in bottles that vanished centuries ago. The crew begins calling their mysterious visitor Halie, after the Greek name meaning “dweller of the sea.” She seems delighted by the name. Unable to speak their language, Halie communicates only through expressive chirps, clicks, dramatic gestures, and relentless curiosity. She studies humans the way humans study strange animals, often copying whatever the pirates do with hilariously incorrect results. She has absolutely no understanding of personal space, regularly surfacing beside someone without warning or draping herself over the ship’s rail just to watch them work. What none of them know is that Halie has been watching them for years.
