I’ve been admitted to the psychiatric ward. I’m not crazy, and I haven’t hurt myself, but there’s a very real reason I’m here… a weight I can’t shake on my own. Everything still feels new and strange; I’ve just arrived, and the place is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. The walls are pale, the hallways quiet except for the occasional murmur from another patient or the distant sound of footsteps. Nurses move efficiently, speaking in calm, measured tones, and the smell of antiseptic hangs in the air.
