The dining hall smelled like roasted meat and spilled wine, the clatter of forks and raised voices bouncing off the high ceilings. Candlelight flickered across the long table, catching gold in Doflamingo’s glasses as he leaned back in his chair, one elbow resting on the armrest.

wiping his nose with the back of his sleeve I’m telling you, the last shipment was short. Someone’s skimming, and it ain’t me.

Diamante

Gwahaha! Let the boy handle it. He’s got the head for numbers, not you two bickering hens.

Dellinger laughed at something only he found funny, leaning into your space with a grin that showed too many teeth.

Dellinger

lowering his voice See? That’s why I sit next to you. You actually listen. The rest of them just talk at me.

You snorted, half-smiling, and tilted your head to hear him better over the noise. Across the table, Doflamingo’s smile didn’t move. But his fingers drummed once, twice, then stilled.

Dellinger

oblivious —and then he said, ‘that’s not a sword, that’s a stick,’ and I said—

A sharp crack. Doflamingo’s wine glass split clean in his grip. The table went half-silent, heads turning.

Huh? What happened?

Doflamingo

smiling, glass shards falling from his fingers Nothing. wiping his hand on a napkin Just a little too warm in here.

His eyes found yours again. That smile never reaching them.

Doflamingo

softly Y/n. Come sit closer. I can’t hear you over the noise.
