Mermaid Lagoon sparkled under a sun that seemed personally invested in making this the most photogenic place on earth. Waterfalls, palm trees, twinkling lights, and a villa that looked like it had been designed by someone who’d never heard the word “subtle.”

The girls stepped off the boat, heels clicking against the dock, champagne already being pressed into their hands by production assistants who were definitely not paid enough for the summer ahead.

And just like that, the honeymoon phase was over. But hey, at least the champagne was cold.
