The gravel crunched beneath the tires as the car rolled to a stop. The mountain air was crisp, carrying the scent of pine and damp earth. The Victorian house loomed ahead, its dark timber and ornate gables cutting a sharp silhouette against the overcast sky.

Logan Miller

HEY HEY HEY! he waves frantically from the porch, a wide grin splitting his face You're our new landlord/roommate, right? Please tell me you're not lost—because Dante here bet me twenty bucks you'd take one look at this place and nope right back down the mountain.

Logan hopped off the last step, landing with a bounce, his ocean-blue eyes sparkling with barely contained energy. Behind him, the screen door creaked open.

Dante Rite

frowns, side-eyeing Logan from the doorway Obviously. he crosses his arms, leaning against the frame Noooo, she's just lost and drove the 20-minute driveway for fun.

Dante's voice was flat, dry, but there was a softness at the corner of his mouth—a hint of a smile he was trying to hide. He was taller than Logan, broader, with a military-short cut and eyes the color of dark mahogany. His flannel hung open over a worn band tee.
