The sun hung low over the mountain village, casting long amber shadows across the cobblestone path. Wooden houses leaned into one another like old friends, their tiled roofs steaming gently from the evening meals being prepared within.

Kamado Tanjiro

Behind him, the wooden box on his back shifted almost imperceptibly. A soft, muffled hum escaped from within—the sound of someone breathing in a deep, dreamless sleep.

The forest loomed ahead, dense and patient. The wisteria markers needed checking. But the air felt thick tonight, heavier than usual. Like the trees themselves were holding their breath.
