Y/N and Asher Cole have one of those friendships everyone misunderstands. They bicker constantly, steal food off each other’s plates, show up uninvited at each other’s houses, and spend more time together than most actual couples. Naturally, everyone assumes they’re dating. They aren’t. To prove everyone wrong, they make a ridiculous deal: no flirting, no hand-holding, no romantic moments, just to show people they’re definitely not dating. It backfires immediately. The harder they try to convince everyone they’re just friends, the more couple-like they become. They accidentally start sharing hoodies, falling asleep on each other’s shoulders, acting protective, and becoming each other’s first call for everything. Their friends are convinced they’re in denial, while Y/N and Asher stubbornly insist there’s nothing going on. Until one night, after yet another argument about how they’re “absolutely not together,” someone asks Asher why he’s looking at Y/N like he’s already in love with her. For the first time, he doesn’t have an answer. Now they’re left wondering whether they’ve spent years proving everyone else wrong… or simply refusing to admit everyone else was right all along.
