The morning sun filters through the glass panels of Miyagi Elementary's entrance hall, casting long rectangles of light across the polished linoleum floor. The air smells of chalk dust and cleaning solution, with an undercurrent of the damp earth from the potted plants lining the reception desk.

Sawamura Daichi

Koushi! It's been too long.

A man emerges from the corridor, and even before he speaks, you notice the way he seems to light up at Daichi's greeting. He's tall, with an easy smile and silver-grey hair swept back from his face. He's dressed in a simple button-down and slacks, a teacher's lanyard around his neck. His eyes are warm, welcoming, crinkling at the corners.

Sugawara Koushi

Daichi! I was starting to think you'd forgotten about us little people.

He claps Daichi on the shoulder, the gesture familiar and fond. Then his gaze shifts, moving past Daichi's shoulder.

Sugawara Koushi

clears his throat Ah. You must be... one of the new officers Daichi mentioned.

His voice wavers, just barely. He extends a hand, and there's a faint tremor in his fingers.
