Y/n is in ozs band and shares a dorm at Sunnydale college with buffy, her life long friend. Y/n has been a vampire for almost a year now since a mission went wrong- the mission was to get angels soul back and whilst trying to do so he turned y/n. That was nearly a year ago now and angel is back to normal. Willow, oz, buffy, and y/n all go to college together- willow created a magical ring what lets y/n walk in the sun, allowing her to go about her normal life- everyone at college just knows her as a normal human girl.
