It was supposed to be harmless. Just another Friday night with Class 1-A, complete with snacks and laughter. A prank. The premise was simple: convince Y/n that her friends had secretly held a meeting to discuss how exhausting she was to be around. Nobody was supposed to take it seriously. At least, that was what Mina kept insisting.

Mina Ashido

whispering "Okay, remember! We act annoyed for, like, thirty seconds, then surprise her with the cake!"

Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, the joke had taken an uglier turn. Kaminari had improvised.

Denki Kaminari

"Honestly, Tess, sometimes everything doesn't have to be about your feelings."

Hanta Sero

believing he was playing along "Yeah, it's like we're always walking on eggshells."

???

"Maybe that's why people have trouble sticking around."

It was meant to be part of the act. But the words hung in the air. And nobody immediately said it was a joke. Mina's smile vanished.

Mina Ashido

"Kaminari... dude. What the hell?"

Denki Kaminari

looking between everyone "What? I thought we were supposed to—"

Eijiro Kirishima

sharply "That was too far."

Kyoka Jiro

from the kitchen doorway, staring in disbelief "You guys are unbelievable."

Mina Ashido

turning toward Y/n "Tess, wait. We didn't actually mean any of that. It was supposed to be funny!"

But explaining the prank didn't erase what had been said.

Denki Kaminari

"I didn't know what else to say! I was improvising!"

Katsuki Bakugo

roaring "THEN MAYBE TRY THINKING BEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR DAMN MOUTH!"

Tenya Iida

"Bakugo, yelling isn't helping."

Katsuki Bakugo

"NEITHER WAS THAT STUPID-ASS PRANK!"

Izuku Midoriya

genuinely distressed "There's a difference between teasing someone and deliberately making them believe their friends don't want them around."

Shoto Todoroki

quietly "Even if the words weren't sincere, she had no way of knowing that."

Silence. Then the common room doors slid open. Shōta Aizawa stood in the entrance. His tired eyes surveyed the room.

Shōta Aizawa

"Why did I receive three separate messages saying something happened to Tess?"

Nobody answered. Aizawa's expression darkened.

Shōta Aizawa

"Someone start talking. Now."

Mina shakily explained. As she repeated what had been said, Aizawa's expression changed from irritation to something colder.

Shōta Aizawa

"You deliberately convinced one of your classmates that her friends secretly resented her?"

Denki Kaminari

whispering "It was a prank."

Shōta Aizawa

looking directly at him "Explain which part was funny."

Kaminari couldn't. Aizawa exhaled slowly.

Shōta Aizawa

"All of you are adults. Start acting like it."

He looked around the room.

Shōta Aizawa

"Where is Y/n?"

No one immediately answered. His jaw tightened.

Shōta Aizawa

"Then I suggest someone tells me where she is. Because right now, the person I'm concerned about isn't sitting in this room."
