The Great Hall stretched out before you like a sea of flickering candlelight. Hundreds of floating candles hovered above the four long house tables, their warm glow casting dancing shadows across the enchanted ceiling—a perfect, star-strewn sky.

shuffles closer to Draco, blinking slowly So... which table do we sit at?

nods vigorously, his jaw slack Yeah. Which one?

Draco Malfoy

rolls his eyes, but his fingers find yours beneath the edge of the tablecloth waiting to be draped Honestly, you two. It doesn't matter. Azalia and I already know we're going to be in Slytherin. It's the only option, really.

His hand slipped into yours under the cover of the crowd, his palm cool and smooth, fingers lacing through yours with an ease born of years of practice. No one else seemed to notice. No one else ever did.

tilts his head toward you, voice dropping low, just for you Father says the Slytherin table is the best in the hall. Best view, best food, best company.

A ghost drifted past, translucent and shimmering, and Draco pulled you a half-step closer, his thumb brushing once across your knuckles before he released you—just as Professor McGonagall's sharp voice cut through the chatter.
