Newly widowed Catharine returns to reclaim her throne. She quickly faces intense opposition from Nevarian noblemen, Protestant leaders, and a deeply threatened King Edward of England. Following a disastrous marriage and a subsequent palace coup, Catharina is forced to abdicate and flees to England, where Edward imprisons and eventually executes her.
