Call Of Duty - Beach Day · Y/n story by @ryanknight98

The sun was barely cresting over the horizon when the last of the transport trucks rolled into the base's motor pool, engines ticking as they cooled.

Price

stretches as he hops down from the driver's seat, cigar clamped between his teeth Alright, ladies. You've got forty-eight hours.

Soap

blinks, mid-yawn Come again?

Price

Forty-eight hours of leave. Beach's a klick east of here. Quarters are already booked.

A beat of stunned silence rippled through the squad as the words sank in. Then, chaos.

Gaz

shouldering his pack, already grinning I call the room with the biggest bed.

König

ducking his head as he lumbers past Ja. And I call the room with the biggest doorframe.

Roach

You two are the reason we can't have nice things.

Ghost stood apart from the group, arms crossed, mask pulled tight over his face as always. He watched the others bicker with something unreadable in his posture. Not tense. Not relaxed. Just... there.

Soap

nudges Y/n with an elbow C'mon. You've been runnin' on fumes for weeks. Beach day's exactly what the doctor ordered.

Ghost

voice low, gruff MacTavish.

Soap

Aye?

Ghost

tilts his head toward the trucks Grab the kit bags before you go play in the sand.

Soap

groans dramatically Ye couldnae have asked someone else?

Keegan

walks past, duffel slung over one shoulder You heard the man. Fingers on zippers.

The path to the beach wound through scrubby coastal grass, dunes rising and falling like frozen waves. Beyond them, the water glittered — impossibly blue, impossibly calm.

Farah

falls into step beside Y/n, her voice quiet It's strange, isn't it? Quiet.

Alejandro

from ahead, grinning over his shoulder Enjoy it, hermano. The quiet never lasts.

Horangi: laughing

You're in for a bad time, then.

They crested the final dune together — a staggered, battle-worn line of soldiers against the brilliant sky. Below them, the beach stretched wide and golden, empty save for a few distant fishing boats bobbing on the swell.

Price
